what is a csa?
Simply put, “community-shared agriculture” allows the consumer to connect directly with the farmer and subscribe to a weekly harvest box of locally grown, no spray and non-GMO vegetables. Each harvest box will contain a variety of fresh veggies that are carefully selected and allow for eating in-season. Our CSA program offers a more intimate way of connecting with our customers and our community while providing our customers with a means of connecting with and supporting a local farm. Our CSA also allows us to share the benefits and challenges of farming with our customers. By purchasing a share of our crop at the beginning of the season, CSA members increase our cash flow at a time when expenses are high and revenue is low. CSA members are then guaranteed a share of our crop, which may vary depending on the season.
How does the black table farm csa work?
CSA members purchase their share of the crop at the beginning of the season and receive 16 boxes of in-season produce (one box every week) in return.
The program will run for 16 weeks from June-October.
what is included in the csa?
Every box is filled with fresh, seasonal produce from our fields. We try to vary the produce each week while maintaining our commitment to providing you with the vegetables you want. There are also options to add extra produce – like fresh farm eggs, pickling cumbers or rhubarbs.
how do i pick up my csa?
Boxes are delivered to predetermined drop-off locations before 3 pm every Thursday during the CSA season. Drop-off locations are determined by the location of our CSA members. Planned locations for 2024 are:
-Fort Langley : Carnberries Naturally
-Langley: Locality brewing
-Langley Willoughby
-Vancouver: Luppolo Brewing Co.
CSA box pick up is the responsibility of the member – if you are going to be away, we suggest that you ask a friend or family member to pick up for you.
how much does the csa cost?
Community Supported Agriculture connects you to our farm and the abundance of the season. A yearly membership costs $770 for farm-fresh, no spray no chemical produce over 16 weeks!
If you would like to add farm fresh eggs that option is available for you at an additional $8/week.
how do i pay?
We accept cheques payable to Black Table Farm or e-transfers to info@blacktablefarm.com
*We require a $50 non-refundable deposit to reserve your 2024 CSA.
interested in hosting a csa drop off location?
Willing to act as a CSA drop off location? Amazing!
Drop off locations must be easily accessible, secure, and shaded. And fridge (walk in coolers are plus!)
New drop-off locations can be created with a minimum of 8 to 10 CSA members in the area. If you would like to create a new drop off location, gather 4 members with one of them offering a suitable location and we will try to fill up the location by promoting in that area. Get in touch to discuss: info@blacktablefarm.com
what are your covid-19 protocols?
For our and your safety we ask our members to notify us if you have tested positive for the Covid 19 or have symptoms so we can take additional safety measure to protect everyone that we have contact with.
Please note, unfortunately during this Covid 19 period, we are going to stop using reusable bags to void any spread of the virus.
After the quarantine/ self-isolated period is over we will have a pick up located reserved for you to pick up the produce.
